Wheely Good Times Ahead: Darling Harbour Rollerama

March 25, 2022

Get your groove on through April at the Darling Harbour Rollerama! We know there’s nothing quite like lacing up your skates and getting on down to fun town with all your skate mates. Now you can do this in the heart of the Sydney CBD at the roller rink that’s popped up between Darling Square and the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Big thanks to dlpr presents, Malt Shop Rollers and Place Management NSW for bringing roller skaters some wheely good times. You’ll be able to get your dose of RollerFit in Darling Quarter every Saturday. Each weekend one of our coaches will be running roller dance and RollerFit classes. If you want to come along to one of our RollerFit sessions you can see all the schedule and booking info right here. Classes are capped at 25 skaters so book in now to make sure you don’t miss out. If you can’t make it to one of our classes at Darling Harbour Rollerama you can always find us at our regular Sydney venue in Tempe.

No matter what day you decide to roll in, there’s going to be some serious roller disco vibes pumping from Pier Underpass. From dress up nights, Hello Kitty days, roller derby demos, and Cheap Skate Tuesdays there’s something for everyone. Not to mention the constant flow of tunes from the lineup of vibe-producing DJs or the fact that the rentals are Chuffed Skates. The crew from dlpr presents and Malt Shop Rollers have thought of everything to keep you rolling through this April when you visit the pop up roller rink. Seriously though, they’ve even got a roll up bar and diner thanks to Pumphouse Sydney. You can find more info and see the schedule for all things Rollerama over here.

So what can you expect when you and the crew roll into Darling Harbour Rollerama?
The rink is located at Pier Underpass, so it’s under a bridge and like any good roller rink it’s going to have a couple of leaks with torrential rain. But there’s nothing like some safety cones to make for some fun obstacles. There is not 1, but 2 rinks! The smaller one is the beginner rink and the bigger/main rink is for those who are more comfortable rolling around. The skating surface is concrete tiles, some smooth and some textured. So, you’re going to want to wear outdoor wheels to make sure you get a smooth roll. Hybrid wheels like the Moxi Fundaes or Chuffed Chiller wheels will also be okay for those more experienced skaters or those who don’t like soft wheels.

If you need skates there’s a skate hire booth stocked full of rentals and protective gear near the seating areas where you’ll lace up. There’s also super sweet and talented skating staff who can help you out with getting a feel for 8 wheels if you’re new to wheely boot life. Lockers have also been provided so you can store all your goodies safely while you roll around. If you’re all about that roll up bar and good food, you’ll find the entrance to Pumphouse Sydney through the main rink. We can’t wait to see all the Sydney skaters feeling funky fresh in the newest go-to skate spot for good vibes and groovy times. If you see any Rollerfit crew there don’t be shy, come say hi!
